Now here's a good one for you: I have a game of Gauntlet in which I am playing the Valkyrie. So far, I am down to level 90, have amassed over 500,000 points, and have over 10,000 health (and increasing almost constantly it seems). What I want to know is: is this is unusual? Has anyone else managed to do the same or similar? Is it just a feature of the game that you occasionally get invincible characters? If so, I can see why they never included a high score table - it would be too depressing :-) (BTW, I didn't play continuously down to level 90 - I've been playing that game for about a week now. When I get bored, I go back to it and add another 10 levels to it. I think I'll give up on it soon... :-) See ya Nigel. /******************************************************************************\ * "If I had a quote, I'd be wearing it." * Internet: stanger@otago.ac.nz * * -- Dylan Thomas (I think) * SnailMail: Information Science, * * * University of Otago, * * "Say no MORE!!!" * P.O. From: gousha@cory.Berkeley.EDU (Charles Gousha) Path: cory.Berkeley.EDU!gousha Nigel. I think you've got it exactly. My roommate has a Valkyrie character that has over 370 levels done, and has EVERYTHING the dungeon offers. He tells me his Valkyrie has over 60,000 in health, and rarely seems drop. He still plays it every now and then, but the challenge is gone. (personally, I don't know how he does it. I can't get my own characters above level 25, but his character is child's play to use. I guess there's a critical mass for these guys.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charles Gousha | "Yes, Star Trek IS a way of life" gousha@cory.berkeley.edu | (my own philosophy) All normal disclaimers apply, as well as some abnormal ones.

I've played a few times. It gets a lot easier after you get the magic items (shot speed, extra armor thing, ...). The easiest way to do this is to avoid the levels with the lobbers, as they seem to be by far the nastiest of the bunch (on the mac). Just wait in some safe spot (don't shoot things) for the walls to turn to exits. I've never played the arcade game, but my friend says that the timeout is shorter for the mac version (so you lose less food). After you know which levels to avoid and which ones to play, it gets easy to get those first potions. Keith -- miyake@cs.purdue.edu
