I know this was talked about recently but I forgot it.... How do you update the various Infocom games so they can work on the newer Macs (like my IIsi).. Specifically, I find many of the games won't save... BIG problem... Jeff

The procedure is very simple... If you have an old infocom game that you would like to "update" to the interface and code handling of a newer, working infocom game then do the folllowing: 1) Open a copy of the older game with ResEdit. 2) Clear all of the resource groups except BNDL, ICN#, and FREF. 3) Keep the copy of the older game open and open the newer game with ResEdit. 4) Use Copy and Paste to copy all the resource groups from the newer game to the older game EXCEPT the FREF, ICN#, and BNDL resources. 5) Quit ResEdit (Only save changes to the copy of the old game). 6) Launch the copy of the old game. (The BNDL, FREF, and ICN# resources tell the finder what Icon to use and what application to launch when a document is double clicked). For the particular problem of trouble saving and restoring, older infocom games used the MFS file system. If you format a diskette as Single Sided you should have no trouble saving and restoring to it. (But the "updating" described above can get rid of the problem altogether if the newer game uses the HFS system). Feel free to email for more info. William Moss
