[net.railroad] LIRR

GEERT%BITNIC.BITNET@WISCVM.WISC.EDU (Geert K. Marien) (01/24/86)

First off, why do people keep spelling AMTRAK as AMTRACK?

Next, F units were also used with the cab conversions, along with the FAs.
I will supply a complete list later.

With the expansion of electrification, fewer will be needed. Also, running
MP15s on some trains to Oyster Bay, where the MP15 runs around the train,
means that still fewer F/FAs show up there. All sorts of combinations can
be seen. Best places are Oyster Bay (GP38-2 with FA, C420 with FA very rare,
as most C420s pull the freights now), Ronkonkoma (GP38-2 with FA or F, GP38-2
solo), and Port Jefferson (GP38-2 with FA or F).

By the way - "MONTAUK" is the right way, just ask the Montauk indians who
sued the LIRR (Austin Corbin regime) in the late 1800's.
