[comp.sys.mac.games] Question about Harpoon and color games in general

long@mcntsh.enet.dec.com (Rich Long) (03/28/91)

I'm thinking of buying Harpoon, and wondered what you net.experts think of
it. I gather it's a naval fleet simulation. How are the graphics? Is it
 color?

I'd also like opinions on good games in general. They should be color,
support Multifinder (at least run under it), and it would be great if they
 had stereo sound.

Some I have and love: Crystal Quest, Mission Starlight, Vette!, Sky Shadow.

I'm also thinking about Oids. Comments on that?

 Thanks in advance,

Oids is really good. Great color graphics. Check out Armor Alley.
It is very challenging. It is probably my favorite game right now.
How do you like Vette!? I have been thinking about buying it.

Vette! is EXCELLENT. The graphics and sound are great. So far, I've been
running the SledgeHammer vette in trainee mode (where you're immune from
damage and traffic tickets). Adjusting the gravity to low and flying off one
of the hills is a blast! I haven't actually been racing at all, just cruisin'
 around.

Some improvements I'd like in the next version are some aerodynamic control
over the vette when you get airborne (could be fun!), fender-mounted laser
cannons to take care of the annoying traffic, and wheelspin! It amazes me
that in a car so powerful there is no wheelspin when I nail the gas.

 Recommended.

Tell me about Armor Alley, though. What's the scenario?
