Hello! As many of you know, I have been "pushing" the Macintosh archives on um-mts.cc.umich.edu (35.1.1.43) for quite some time.. Those archives (as huge and sprawling as they are), were quite difficult to maneuver around due to our operating system. They're still being maintained, of course.. but.. check THIS out... I'm very pleased to announce a BRAND spanking new Macintosh archive available for everyone on the internet! It's got everything the old archive has, including hierarchial menus.. so it's very very VERY easy to move around in. Right now we have more fonts... more games.. more utilities.. etc. etc. than almost any other archive around (and I'm always looking for more.. see below). The name you can FTP is >> mac.archive.umich.edu << (it's IP address is 141.211.168.70 and an alternate name, same machine, is ftp.ifs.umich.edu). Log in anonymously and then type in "cd archive"... Everything's arranged under menus such as "system.extensions" (for fonts, cdevs, inits, da's & fkeys), "hypercard", "games", etc... You'll also see an "incoming" folder in which you can place programs you've found around the Internet, Compuserve, America OnLine or GEnie (I'm very interested in having folks help us out in sending files from these pay-per-download services to our free archive). As this is a totally new archive, things are still being moved and manipulated around.. if you notice something one session, and it's disappeared in another session.. chances are it's just "dust from construction" and I'm putting things into their proper places. I'm always looking for comments, suggestions, and new programs.. and if you have any questions.. I'm very eager to listen and try to give a good answer. Please feel very free to send mail my direction at "dauter@mac.archive.umich.edu". Thanks for taking the time to take notice and I look forward to any comments.. have fun FTP'ing! -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Mike @ ccs.itd.umich.edu ( ( ( ( (( in stereo )) ) ) ) ) Mike Dautermann - U-M Ann Arbor, Dearborn and the WORLD!!
