[comp.sys.mac.games] Bane - Keys vs Mouse

ric@netcom.COM (Richard Bretscheider) (04/17/91)

For those who might be a little dissatisified with Bane of the Macintosh
Way...er...sorry...Cosmic Forge, here's a couple of hints that helped me
enjoy it more.

1 - Don't try to use Mouse mode. It's pretty uneven, some things you
can control by clicking on them, others you have to return to the
keyboard. I find this a much more enjoyable game by just surrendering
to the old Apple II style keyboard pounding techniques.

2 - Experiment with turning the sound off. I find this speeds combat
up greatly. The sounds don't seem to be keyed to the results of anything,
just the attempts, and some times not even those. Example, a monsters
growl doesn't mean he hit you, just that he struck, and some times
just that he's there.

Both of these commands are hidden two levels down from the DISK main
menu command. Hopefully you won't need additional spoilers to find
them. :-)

All in all I'm enjoying the game, but then I like anchovy on my pizza.
