[net.railroad] Railroad songs, the future, and cabeese

price@noscvax.UUCP (James N. Price) (02/10/86)

Fellow railfans--on the continuing topic of RR songs, I'd like to add
that I very much enjoy a somewhat scratchy copy of Johnny Mercer's
"On The Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe" that my wife and I have in
our ca. 1948 vintage Wurlitzer jukebox at the moment. If anyone wants
words or info about that particular song/record, I may be able to help.

Second--I posted a note on January 27 asking if anyone knew about
high-speed ground transportation R&D. I've been disappointed
that I didn't stir any responses from this group. Any thoughts?

Finally, re. cabeese ("jr" message of 29 Jan)--plural of caboose--
if any of you folks get info about how to buy an out-of-service
caboose, I'd sure like to know about it. I'd seriously like to
get one or possibly be part of a group that buys one, depending upon
how much they cost, obviously! At the moment, I'd be most interested
in "cabeese" available on the West Coast. Thanks in advance.

Later--Jim Price, San Diego, CA.

An interesting graveyard of advanced Railroad technology is the
Pueblo Colorado Airport, where they have on display several
experimental high speed trains.
