I have just bought Vette!, and it is a brilliant game. Now, I was poking around in the data file with ResEdit (don't we all? ;-) for curiosity's sake, and I noticed that all the game related stuff (cars, maps, landmarks etc) seem to be stored in the single data file. Does this imply that the city is independent of the game? That is, is it theoretically possible to create, say, a map of New York instead of San Francisco, and race there instead? If this is the case, are Spectrum Holobyte planning to bring out new "plug-in" cities for Vette? Racing in Monaco would be fantastic (hint hint :-). Better yet, how about a CD-ROM version with a *complete* map of a city? Or would that not be feasible? A city editor would be fun too... Next question. Has anyone noticed that the map that comes in the box seems to have little relationship to reality? For example driving down Highway 1 you are suddenly teleported *across* Golden Gate Park and onto Sunset Boulevard (that's what seems to happen anyway). It's real confusing the first time. Finally, sort of a bug, although I was pushing things to extremes at the time. I set gravity to a minimum and zoomed up Great Highway at 253 mph (Trainee mode of course :-). I hit the hill at the northern end and flew through the air with the greatest of ease. Unfortunately I collided with the freeway crash barrier (which seems to extend some distance vertically). Instead of falling into the ground (as happened when I tried the same trick with buildings), the Vette got stuck in mid-air, continually flipping. Looked rather funny actually. The only way out was to quit back to the garage. WARNING: don't try this at home! :-) -- See ya Nigel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nigel Stanger, Internet: stanger@otago.ac.nz c/o University of Otago, P.O.
