I have an embarrassing number of Mac games and I thought I'd shar with you my feelings about some of them on a regular basis. First off having a Mac is an icredibly frustrating thing for a games buyer. Looking at all those great games(especially simulations) made for IBM's(hell even a Tandy owner can play one) drives me nuts. Secondly, I enjoy buying the game more tham playing it on the whole. What I mean is I love the box taking it home ripping open the cellophane, smelling it and reading the manual. I love manuals. Once I figure out how to play it I usually get tired of it pretty quickly due to the repetitive nature of the patterns. This is especially true of adventure games. I have Bane of the Cosmic Forge and Curse of the Azure bonds to name two.I find that those games are a constant repetition of go into new area kill something and find secret. Painstaking and repetitive like cleaning the basement. This is especially true of C.A.B. God the battles are so boring. There is an exception to this and it's Starflight. I thought that was a gas and it's one of the few games I played all the way through. The Freedom of movement in it was for me the key. being able to bomb all over the universe with no restriction. Even Bane of the Cosmic Forge which is supposedly opebn ended has a set pattern. Get through castle and then go onto.... The games I have enjoyed and played repeatedly are: Chessmaster 2100,Playmaker,Sim City,Railroad Tycoon,(I'm losing it though),Balance of Power,(in small doses),Robosport(losing it.The movie thing really slows it down and it's real easy. I know, I know, but I hate customisizing a game to beat me),Harpoon,(can get cold out there in the Atlantic with nothing to do),Falcon,(can get cold at 45,000 ft. with nothing to do),Earl Weaver Basball(during baseball season can't watch it so i play it) That leaves a whole bunch some at various levels of playability. Oh I forgot to mentionm Pirates which I think is a good game. Its the pattern again. Fight ship, land at harbour, get gold, buy men etc, Here are the real Turkeys: Fokker triplane(oh my god lots of black specks),Combat,Vette,(racing through geometry. i don't like driving games I got a car),The art of War games(probably okay but I never play them),NFL pro league football(somebody tell me why anybody would play this game unless they were a bookmaker or had no female friends and just wanted to sit around and talk ball all day with the boys),Hidden agenda(nice idea too simple) I'm starting to make myself sick about how much i've spent. Oh god.See ya.
