I'd like people's impressions on the different baseball games out for the Macintosh, and would especially like reviews of software that are very statistical. By the way, is earl weaver's baseball out for the Mac? Can anyone give me a review? Thanks in advance, Jarrod [fanatical Wham! .sig not included]

You can create your own team, start your players with real statistics that actually *do* affect the players' performance. You can then place these teams in a "league," draft players, trade players, etc... The game maintains stats for each player and updates them every inning (supposedly, although sometimes it takes a couple innings for it to recalculate ERA). The only problem I've had is in the graphics, which may be caused by a lack of memory (it requires 2 megs, and I haven't upgraded my si to 5 yet). Otherwise, it is a good, albeit expensive game (approx $46). -- _______________________________________________________________________________ | | "Girl, don't go away mad :^( | Girl, just go away" ;^) | --Erick Rudiak | --erude@ils.nwu.edu --Motley Crue | | _______________________________________________________________________________

I just bought EWBB v 1.5 for the Mac and it's quite good, though there are a few drawbacks such as: 1) You can't make your own teams. 2) You can't play in color. 3) Depending on what machine you have, the action will either be too fast or too slow. If you have an LC or above, you should be OK. Otherwise, it's interminably slow. Conversely, unless you have cat-like reflexes, I don't recommend playing this game on an IIfx. Otherwise, this game seems to have everything you want. You can keep track of statistics, have injuries, and even keep track of the standings. You get 32 different stadiums to choose from, most of which are now defunct (i.e., Seals Stadium, Jarry Park, Forbes Field, the Polo Grounds, Ebbets Field, etc.), which should keep you quite busy. Plus there are plenty of strategy options. You can play the infield and outfield at various depths and shadings, check which way the wind is blowing, and see how fast the last pitch was. Does anyone know if Electronic Arts is planning to redress the problems with this game that I started off the article with? I would love to see this game in color. Noel Steere
