Took a couple of days but I dug up a brochure put out by Great Western Tours--extremely attractive from a fans viewpoint, with an absolutely spectacular shot of Island Mountain. Although dated 1985 the phone number as follows is probably correct. (707)443-4400 Eureka Station, 109 F Street, Eureka, Ca. 95501 According to CTC Board magazine the ES came thru the bad storms in february without losing any major structures. Such damage would probably have meant abandonment... --Steve -------

Cal. this summer--yes, I've already ridden the California Western ("Skunk Route") on a previous trip.
