Without being a programmer, I feel like I'm fairly computer literate and familiar with the Mac, but this system heap business has me baffled. Recently, I had to replace the 1 meg SIMMs on my 2.5meg SE. When I checked with "About the finder", my total memory was fine but my "bar graph" showed no extra on the "system" line. That is, the system was allocated about 450k, shaded dark, and nothing unshaded. I should say, I don't routinely use multifinder. Is this a problem? If so: a) how do I fix it? and b:) why isn't it better documented in the standard Mac documentation (no Apple flames, please)? I don't think I have done anything non-standard, and haven't experienced any problems, although I haven't been on the machine much lately. Thanks for any help--E-mail is great. PS I don't have heap-fixer (or whatever). If I need it, a pointer to it would be nice. Chris Holoman pscchris@ubvms.cc.buffalo.edu pscchris@ubvms.bitnet
