[comp.sys.mac.system] Price of Upgrades

It's hard to believe that someone is complaining about $15 for all the
new functionality of After Dark, but then I'm not on the tight budget
many students are on.

Still, you don't HAVE TO upgrade. Companies that publish software could
just do one version, sell it, and sit back and collect the money without
doing anymore to it. Would that be better? If you want software to be
upgraded, don't you think you should have to pay something to have the
authors continue to work for you? I mean, they have families and living
expenses too.

As someone said, just distributing upgrades for $15 is getting close to
break-even cost. There are a lot of expenses you don't take into
consideration until you go into business for yourself. Even Adobe's $150
upgrade wasn't that bad for all the stuff you got.

Just my reactions.
