In chapter 14 of Inside AppleTalk ('Print Spooling Architecture'), I find a very interesting description of a 'User authentication dialog' (p. 14-12). According to the description, a LaserWriter driver should start a print job by sending the query: %%?BeginQuery: rUaSpooler false = flush %%?EndQuery true which would be answered with 'true' by a spooler. The driver then should go on and check for the user authentication method that should be used, with 'NoUserLogin' being the default answer. Now my question: Does the Macintosh LaserWriter driver perform such a procedure? In case it does: How does it respond it the spooler returns the authentication method 'CleartxtPasswd'? If the bugger really pops up a dialog window and requests a password, I'll go hysterical with joy. But I dare not even hope so... -- Bjorn Larsen University of Oslo, Norway Bjorn.Larsen@usit.uio.no
