According to a report on CNN Amtrak is raising the maximum speed on the North East Corridor between New York and Washington DC to 125 mph. This will reduce the running time of Metroliners from New York to Washington DC to 2 hrs and 40 mins. This still leaves them 10 mins. short of the NECIP target of 2 hr. and 30 mins. They are also adding two additional Metroliners during the midday hours. This addition will make Metroliners an hourly service between 6am and 6pm, with additional frequencies at 7 and 8pm on Friday. These changes go into effect on October 25th when the new Amtrak Time-Table goes into effect. Jishnu Mukerji AT&T Middletown NJ mtgzz!jis
