The station is about two miles from my house [all of Reading is
within 3 miles of my house 8-) ] and I went on the ride earlier in the
summer. It was a special run with two steam engines pulling the train -
one was the normal, "smaller" engine they usually use and the front
one was the Reading 2102 which is a 4-8-4 (? - I'm not a real buff so
pardon any error; it was a big engine though!). It was awesome when
they passed on the photo run-by at full power. It would be worth the trip
for anyone to take the train ride.

However, the residents of the neighborhood are complaining to the
township about "problems" caused by the railroad. The are also complaining
about Conrail trains which have a parallel track near the station. For
example, they've been bitching that there's no rail crossing gates, the
Conrail trains speed, the steam engine smells, the whistles on both
train lines are too loud, etc., etc. What a bunch of idiots! The tracks
were there long before the houses (which were built about 15 years ago
with their backyards ending about 20 feet from the Conrail track!) so
I say tough luck to them. The railroads are being cooperative but it
seems any train traffic has become too much. Let them eat cinders 8-)
