[comp.sys.mac.system] System 6.0.5 Available Via Ano

Patricia.O'connor@f555.n161.z1.FIDONET.ORG (Patricia O'connor) (10/05/90)

I can't say if the system software is available via anonymous ftp or not,
but it should not be. The Apple license requires that each user read an end
user agreement and respond positively to it and that the distributor keep a
record of each downloader's name and address.

Funny, Apple seems to be blissfully unaware of that fact. :) Last I
checked, System 6.0.5 was available for ftp from apple.com (apple.apple.com
from some places). Look in /pub/dts/sw.license. There's a license agreement
there that you should read, but all the System 6.0.5 disks are there, as well
as the newest EtherTalk Installer(2.0.1) and CD-ROM Setup(3.0.1), and the
DiskCopy application you need to unpack the things.

Actually, Apple postedted system 6.0.5 system software for anonymous ftp
themselves at apple.com. The restrictions were that you had to read the
end user agreement in the same place. Of course, only apple can do this.
