I often get the message "The file "(whatever)" could not be opened/printed (out of Finder memory)". This is despite the fact that I have given the Finder a 300k partition, and "About the Finder" shows that it is using less than 2/3 of it. The message only happens when I try to run an application when the largest free block is only just large enough for it, or when it is smaller, and I say OK to the alert asking me if I want to run it in the available memory. What is going on? How can I prevent this happening? This is on a MacIIfx, System 6.0.5, MultiFinder 6.1b9, and a zillion inits (removing which doesnt change the situation, so I wont bother listing them). Simon Brock.
