I installed 6.0.7 and something strange is happening. Whenever I exit an application, a small quiet "pop" comes out of my SE's speaker. I assume that this has something to do with the new Sound Manager stuff, but I can't figure out what is going on. Anyone else seen this or know the problem? pr -- Pete Resnick (...so what is a mojo, and why would one be rising?) While talking about sounds and 6.07: I have MacRecorder installed to one of the serial ports, Is it possible to record sounds through the sound-cdev? When I open the sound-cdev, the only thing I could do is to paste/copy sounds to/from the System. But in no way I could find any method for bringing up the system's SoundRecorder dialog. (You could this dialog in the system file: DLOG -16482.) Another thing is about HyperCard: in what way does HC 2.0 use the new features if 6.07? I can't find any non-trivail way to paste a sound into (or onto) a stack in HC 2.0.

You need a special driver to make calls to the new Sound Input driver. The LC and IIsi have the Microphone file which does this. I believe that Farallon is working on such a driver for the MacRecord. I also noticed sound wierdness with 6.0.7 before I went back to 0.5. When I used a sound player of any type certain sounds either did not play (resource error in ResEdit) or produced random buzzing. In the latter case, I had to reboot the machine to get it working again. Most of the were from Finder Sounds (the Apple version, NOT the other PD cheesy version). maurice -- Maurice Sharp MSc. I am under the impression that Farallon will be shipping a driver to basically simulate the built-in sound recording hardware using software and the MacRecorder. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Alan D.
