We are about to buy to graphic workstations, and we are having some problems in deciding which machines to buy. Should we buy 2 IIcx or is it better to buy 2 IIci? If we buy the IIci then we will use the built-in grahics adapter, and I have heard rumors that this will slow the machine significantly down when it must do work in 8bit = 256 colors. If we get the IIcx, then we will add the 24 bit graphics card from Apple, and will then probably be doing all the work in 24 bit color. Is there anybody who has speed comparisons of these two machines, where theIIci is running 8 bit onboard video ? The please send me the results. I would also like information from people who has just worked with both configurations. Any comments and experiences are welcome. And also comments from Quark Express users. This will be the main program running on these machines. Please answer me very soon, as I need info before a meeting tomorrow (friday, at 11am GMT). As this is not my primary account, then PLEASE mail the results directly to my account here in Denmark, listed below. There is often problems to get a working telnet connection to the USA during normal working hours here in Europe. Thanks a lot, Povl eco8941@ecostat.aau.dk (PLEASE USE THIS ADDRESS). I am also interested in pure speed tests (MIPS etc.) for any of these machines. If you send me the results for your machine then another user will send his configuration, and thus I will be able to get the wanted data. D D D will send for his configuretion. -- ******************************************************* Povl H. Pedersen hp48sx@wuarchive.wustl.edu HP48sx archive maintainer
