[comp.sys.mac.system] What is wrong with PrintMonitor???

alexis@panix.uucp (Alexis Rosen) (10/27/90)

PrintMonitor does not seem to work properly. At four different sites, running
on every sort of Mac, with varying revisions of System Software and with
anywhere from zero to two dozen INITs, I've seen the same exact behavior.
PrintMonitor doesn't start printing until you switch into it.

I understand that Backgrounder can't launch PrintMonitor if there's not enough
free unfragmented RAM, but that's NOT what's happening here. PrintMonitor is
running, it just won't start sending the pages. WHY??? Does anyone know how
to fix this, or how to work around it?

Now, in some cases, PrintMonitor does do the right thing. And I recall some
documentation somewhere saying something about "closing the print job" and
that the application needed to be switched or quit to do this. But that's
just too weird...
