I don't get it: the "about finder" thing says that my *largest* (not total, but largest) memory block available is 1800K, but the damn computer won't let me boot up a 1500K program--not enough memory. What gives? What, I say, what am I doing wrong? The particulars: IIci, trying to run PageMaker 4.00, buttloads of various cdevs and inits (but why should this matter: they're all in the system allocation, right?), 4 megs of memory, &c. cheers, from charles s. geiger, esq. -- I am, most sincerely, charles s. geiger, esq. I find that on my IIci I sometimes cannot run some of my programs at all! Usually they run fine, but sometimes after running other programs I'll try to start a program and get that sme message "not enough memory" even though no other applications are running! So what is happening? Why does memory dissapear? Does the system itself fragment memory? It certainly seems odd to me and I'd love to hear an explanation! --Walter _____________________________________________________________________________ Walter Carlip **** c3ar@finite.chi.il.us **** (the "3" is invisible) **** c3ar%finite.chi.il.us@gargoyle.uchicago.edu **** _____________________________________________________________________________
