I ftp'd the new System 6.0.7 files from apple.com and also Apple DiskCopy 4.1. I remember there having been a discussion of problems with DiskCopy some time back. But, back then DiskCopy worked for me. Today, I tried every conceivable permutation of startup disk, INITs, Multifinder, and System versions to run DiskCopy under. I get various problems: 1) system error on program startup 2) hard disk not mounted 3) menus disappear 4) three beeps from DiskCopy when trying to load a disk image I have yet to install the new system and I promised it to a buyer of my computer. If you've experienced or know of how to work around the problems please let me know. I am running on a MacSE with a Quantum 40 internal (SilverLining driver). _____ Piper Keairnes ar4@sage.cc.purdue.edu (Purdue University)

On the newest developers disk, Night of the Living Disk, there is a cdev called MountImage which lets you directly mount up to four "image" files (the files used by DiskCopy) on the desktop. If you have two HDs, you can then install 6.0.7 without using DiskCopy. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Michael Libes (Luni) Internet Address: MacMach Project ml10@andrew.cmu.edu Carnegie Mellon University ------------------------------------------------------------------
