Here's a little news blip from UPI in Saturday's paper (11/1/86) Rail passenger service will be expanded along the eastern shoreline of Connecticut and possibly along the inland route between New Haven and Springfield, Mass., state officials said yesterday. The State Department of Transportation said it will use 13 self-propelled rail cars to restore the long-abandoned 'Clamdigger' service between New Haven and New London, possibly by late next year, and to supplement trains now running on Metro-North Railroad branch lines to Danbury, Waterbury, and New Canaan. The department is also considering expanding service between New Haven and the Enfield-Springfield area.
