[comp.sys.mac.system] Two system folders on same disk - THANKS!!

biswa@galileo.berkeley.edu (Biswa Ranjan Ghosh) (11/20/90)

Hi folks,
Thanks for giving me a healthy dose of net-wisdom. I tried replying to
everyone who e-mailed me a response, if I missed anyone, and to those of
you who sent followup articles, thankyouverymuch.

Summary:

The three methods suggested were

1) Use one of the utilities Switcher or Blesser, both available from sumex.

2) Partition the disk, with a different version of the system folder in
   each partition.

3) Drag the finder into the desired system folder and reboot. This has
variants, like drag the system file of the undesired version into
another folder and reboot, so the desired version gets blessed.

I am going with (1) above, since it seems to be the easiest method for
my friend, who is not a Mac expert. Least chance of screwing anything up.
(2) seems to be the cleanest method, while (3) seems the quickest, and the
one that I would use myself, although it's also the one that's easiest to
screw up.
