[comp.sys.mac.system] DEC LanWORKS/Mac & EtherTalk -- please help

derek@leah.albany.edu (Cinderella Man) (11/20/90)

We're in the process of installing the DEC LanWORKS for Macintosh software
on a Mac IIci here, for testing purposes at our site. Most of the software
needed to hook up the Mac to our VAX here is on a VAXShare volume which our
local SYSadmin will gladly install for us. But to access that volume, and
copy the software to the Mac, we need a file for the "Network" control
panel device: "EtherTalk 2.0" (right now all we have is 1.2).

Does anyone know where I can access this version of the EtherTalk file? It
must be available somewhere, and I believe it is an Apple product. If your
site has installed DEC LanWORKS, could you please mail me a copy of that
file? We're stuck in low-gear until we can get this volume mounted.

By the way, some technical info -- we're using a 3Com EtherLink/NB board
in our IIci, and running NCSA Telnet 2.3 currently (the stand-alone
version, not the one that runs on top of MacTCP).

Thanks for any help in advance, it's much appreciated,

						Derek L.

what kind of OS do you run ? The ether talk usually comes with the nubus card,
and/or with appletalk router if you installed that one. Ask your apple sales
rep upon availability of upgrades if you miss it. Regards, Reinhard
