To eliminate the "LAYO" resource or its equivalent would be a big step
backwards.  We hacked our LAYO resource to scrunch icons on a Mac
SE/030.  The supplied spacing is pretty useless since it spaces each
icon an aircraft-carrier apart (as supplied by apple).  By reducing
the spacing via LAYO, we can get about ~100 icons on a Mac SE screen
(rather than ~40).
