[comp.sys.mac.system] Appleshare Client Question

uh@bsiao.UUCP (Uul Haanstra) (02/14/91)

Since a couple of weeks we are running AppleShare on a 3+Open server from 3Com.
(before that time we used the Macintosh Service of 3+Share).

For some reason, the Mac insists of talking to the server every 10 seconds
as soon as I have opened a Folder in the Finder, even when the Finder is
somewhere in the background.

This means that every 10 seconds my typing is being interrupted for a second
or longer because Finder wants to update the Folder information.

Is there any way to
	a) turn this feature off, I'm perfectly content to close and re-open
a folder in order to see any changes someone else might have made
(especially so since this hardly ever happens), or
	b) decrease the frequency of the update so that my productivity
	   doesn't suffer from it.

This feature cannot in any (documented) way be changed on the side of the
server.

Pease send email.
