We've got a couple of Macs on an ethernet based network of Sun workstations. When we want to laserprint a Mac document, we are required to create a postscript file and then transfer the file to the Sun network where we use the "macps" and "lpr" utilities to print them. Our laserprinters are PostScript based. Our problem is that text in a Mac document that possesses an outline font always prints poorly. When the postscript file is created on the Mac, a message comes up that a bitmap is being created even though the font has an outline. I thought outline fonts were supposed to look great when printed - or is this only applicable to the Imagewriter? The only text that looks great is text that is chosen from one of the built in fonts of our laserprinters. Anyhow, if this is really the best we can expect, I am aware that we also have all sorts of postscript fonts buried away in a directory somewhere in our Sun network. Is there someway of either downloading these to a laserprinter or getting them on the Mac so the Mac can use them? -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Greg Bond -----> bond@sce.carleton.ca (613) 788 5743 Dept. of Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University Ottawa, ON, Canada K1S 5B6
