[comp.sys.mac.system] Looking for a Printer Widget

ceb@csli.Stanford.EDU (Charles Buckley) (02/27/91)

I have a Mac on an Ethernet (TCP/IP), and a laser printer connected to
it. I want to move that printer on a Unix host on that net, so that I
can print to it from Unix machines and others (using lpd protocol), but I
also want to continue to reach the printer from the Mac (and from
Appletalk) in a transparent fashion (none of these option-F histrionics).

I have heard this is possible if you have a Kinetics FastPath box, but
I have an EtherLink board from 3Com. Such a thing doesn't seem to be
a part of the EtherTalk software which came with it. Is there some
utility out there which will do this?

Freeware is nice of course, but I'm even willing to buy, and will pay
shareware fees without reservation (well, the software *does* have to
work) . . . As the title implies, it's probably just a widget, but I
don't have time to hack it at the moment.

Please reply by mail, as I don't read this list. Thanks.
