I got a MacLC two days ago and realizing that an older system won't run, decided to install system 607 onto my hard disk. However even when using the master System disk that Apple provided with the LC unit (to run the Installer) I kept getting this message that installation was unsuccessful and that I'd have to use an original copy of the System disk. I ended up replacing the System, Sound, and Keyboard files with my older versions in my external hard drive by draggig icons instead of using the installer (which worked), but can anyone in netland help me on why the Installer failed? If I have a defective copy, is there anything I can do to get a copy that works without having to call Customer Service to be put on hold for half a day? (The dealer was no help, they told me to call Customer Service) -Yoshi Matsumoto ymatsumoto@eagle.wesleyan.edu

You can get a full version of 6.0.7 from apple.com (anonymous ftp) in the /pub/dts/sw.license directory. All the files are stored in "images" of each of the 4 disks. You will need the utility availiable in the same directory to extract each image.
