We have several LA36 terminals which we'd like to upgrade to
600 baud. I recall a company named Lark making a kit to do this,
but don't know where they're located. Can someone help?
thanks-

I have also heard of devices to increase the speed of a LA36. However,
some people I know who are familiar with LA36's are strongly against
the use of these devices. They told me something like the following:
The LA36 runs at a normal speed of 300 baud, or a catchup speed of
600 baud. The motor in the LA36 was designed to run at 300 baud.
If you run it at 600 baud full time, it will burn out long before
it should (speaking from experience). So don't use devices that
speed up an LA36 unless you have a cheap source of motors.
I know nothing about the subject; I'm just paraphrasing what I've heard.
I've also heard of similar devices that provide dot matrix printing,
alternate character sets, and/or the ability to accept higher baud rates
with character buffering and ^S/^Q handshaking WITHOUT causing the LA36 to
print any faster. Presumably, these devices would have no negative effect
on the LA36.
