[comp.sys.mac.system] SoundEdit and 6.07 soundmanager

phil@and.cs.liv.ac.uk (Phil Jimmieson) (03/05/91)

Do Farallon have any plans or have they indeed released anything which will
allow SoundEdit to record sounds under 6.07 with 3:1 and 6:1 compression? I ask
this 'cos I'm writing a program which makes use of vast amounts of sound, and
would like to use the compressed sounds if my program is running under systems
greater than 6.07. I'd like to record some compressed sounds (and I only have
an SE/30 <sob>), and use them in my program. Also, does anyone have any include
files for the 6.07 sound manager for THINK Pascal? I'm just lusting after
playing with all these new features!

I've got SoundEdit 2.0.3, which supports the built-in mike on the LC and
IIsi, and lets you use MACE 3:1 and 6:1 compression. I got the update for
free from Farallon (no shipping charges, even!)--all they wanted was my
MacRecorder serial number.

With the new SoundEdit, you also get the MacRecorder Driver, which
lets you use MacRecorder with any software that supports the System 6.0.7
Sound Input Manager--for example, the HyperCard Audio Palette.

The MacRecorder Driver also lets your Mac play sounds compressed
with Farallon's 4:1 and 8:1 algorithms.
