[comp.sys.mac.system] Suggestion to Apple - A better way to close multiple Finder windows

eacj@theory.tn.cornell.edu (Julian Vrieslander) (03/10/91)

In the current Finder version, an option-click in the close box of any Finder
window will close *all* open Finder windows. That's useful, but it would be
nice to have a facility for closing a *subset* of all open windows.

Why not let an option-click in the close box cause the closing of the
clicked window, and (if the window represents a folder directory) all windows
displaying info about files and folders contained in the closing folder?

To close all windows opened from a single volume, the user can double-click
the volume's icon to bring the root folder's window to the front, and then
do an option-close on that window. An option-close with the volume's icon
selected could be linked to the same action. A cleaner way to guarantee
closing of *all* open Finder windows, even when there are multiple mounted
volumes, would be to simply have a "Close All" item in the Finder's file
menu.

If some of these ideas are already lined up for System 7 (or 8), then
pardon my interruption. If not, please send my royalty checks to the address
below...
