[comp.sys.mac.system] hacking the laser writer driver

andre@elvis.cs.pitt.edu (04/02/91)

i finally got around to messing with my laser writer driver so that it
always generates a postscript file and always puts the file in a specific
folder. this of course leads me to other questions:

1) i would like my new postscript generator driver to specify that it DOES
NOT need appletalk. i know, i know, just click and accept the way things
are. but, come on, i've gone this far...

2) i was playing in resedit with the laser printer dialog. i made the
dialog box smaller and removed some of the options from the bottom of the
dialog box. i could no longer print. in fact the system would lock up
(though the mouse continued to be active).

3) if i select a laserwriter driver via chooser, why do i need to go
through the page setup from finder when i go back to my imagewriter driver?
if i don't, i get a number of line feeds at the top of my printout that i
don't expect. as soon as i use the page setup from finder, everything
works fine.
