Is there a program that allows one to use the black part that envolves the screen on my Mac/SE30? I looked at it today and realized how much space I'm losing on my already small screen. horcel@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu no sig. <300 sensational salads>

There is a simple way to make better use of the screen space in the finder on an SE, SE/030, Plus, or Classic. Make a copy of the finder file. Edit it with ResEdit and open the LAYO resource Change the icon vertical spacing and horizontal spacing to a smaller number. I find that reducing it from 64*64 to 50*50 works well and allows you to display about 10*6 (60) icons on the screen, rather than 8*5 (40). If you set the icon staggering bit, you can squeeze even more icons onto the screen. While you're at it turn of "zoomboxes" and all your applications will open faster.
