[comp.sys.mac.system] Super Boomerang

drenze@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu (Douglas Renze) (04/09/91)

Where can I find Super Boomerang? Is it shareware? I had just gotten a copy
of the original and have already fallen in love with it. I was going to send
in my shareware fee, but then heard from somebody that it was incompatible with
Sys 7. If this is true, I don't want to waste my money.

Anybody? Anybody?

Super Boomerang is a commercial product distributed in a package called
"Now Utilities" published by Now Software. The latest version is v.2.0.3.
The v.2.0.3 works on sys 7.0b4 OK, except for a minor cosmetic problem.
Then I heard that it fails on sys 7.0FC1, then on 7.0FC2 it works OK again
and so on so forth. As long as sys7 is concerned, nothing is final yet.

I guess at this moment it's not worth while worrying too much about which
version works ok on which system etc. I'm pretty sure that its author
will make sure that he comes up with a SuperBoomerang version which works
fine with sys 7 final.

This software used to be a shareware called Boomerang, before it went
commercial. The last public shareware release was v.2.0 (or something
like that). It's still available on sumex-aim etc. If you want to save
$$$, you might give a try on the sareware first, then ask the author
to explore discount upgrade path to the commercial version [it may work,
it may not work. YOU have to find.]
