rc3h+@andrew.cmu.edu (Ross Ward Comer) (04/11/91)
I am interested in setting up a fileserver for around 20 different "groups". I would like to be able to limit the amount of disk space each group uses. The solution that occurs to me is to partition the drive with one partition for each group. My question therefore is: what is the maximum number of partitions that the Mac OS and Appleshare can handle? Also, I could see this server being accessed by 25-50 people at a time. I am not interested in fast access; it can be fairly slow. However, it would be nice to have that many connections at one time. Therefore, how fast of a machine do I need (in other words, can I get away with using my Plus:-)? System 7.0 is an acceptable suggestion if it can handle that many connections and partitions (or shared folders as the case seems to be).
