What can one do when a folder has lost its thread and a thread its folder ? Context: i'm working on a MacIIx, OS 6.0.7, with a Hammer600 optical disk on SCSI 3. We use it for different archive tasks. Problem: i can't access one of my root folders. (one out of five). The disk is about half full (145Mb). The folder in question contains another five or six folders. Symptoms: when trying to open it the system returns an HFS error (-127) Internal file system error (fsDSIntErr) according to SysErrTableDA 3.0 What's been done: i run Norton's Disk Doctor on the volume, and several errors were found: 1. no matching thread for folder #2737 (parID=2) - not fixed. 2. no matching folder for thread #363 (parID=2737) - not fixed. 3. index node (#928) contains invalid info (invalid level) - catalog tree fixed. It seems that only the first folder (root) is hit. When you look for a file located in that same folder (with Fast Find, i.e), you actually find it, except that the pathname returned doesn't exist .. So i went peeping with Norton Disk Editor, and the whole tree structure of the latter folder has disapeared. All the files show 'flat out', no hierarchy. But .. the 'show path' button displays a partially correct pathname .. except for the first folder. Disk First Aid (v1.4.3) isn't any help either .. Help needed: even thought the data contained in theses folderrs isn't vital, i'd like to find a way to recover the lot .. Now, Norton's Utilities doesn't provide a mean to move files from one location to another, or to rebuilt the whole catalog tree and FAT. (The next version might, who knows ..) What can be done ? and how ? is there any third party software as performant (or more) as Norton's Utilities ? Thanks in advance for any hints/solutions/proposals or sympathy .. :david =============== David C.
