The filesystem on my Mother's Mac has a directory inconsistency that I would like to repair for her. The disk optimizer from Sum II gives up with an error "D 5" and Disk First Aid complains it cannot repair the disk. She's gotten these messages from SUM II Recover: 1) SCSI - Okay 2) Volume Information Block - Okay 3) Directory is bad Number of files does not match MDB Allocation map is invalid. Aside from the inability to optimize the disk or repair it with Disk First Aid, there are no other symptoms or problems. All of her files seem readable. Is there any way to repair the disk by editing with SUM II Tools? Can I use some other FSDB-like tool? Since she must backup, initialize and reload all of her files to recover, I'm willing to take a stab at patching things by hand. I prefer an EMAIL response.
