When producing a "diff", I suggest that the following convention be used when specifying filenames: diff [options] <original> <new version> The diff thus produced can be interpreted as the changes necessary to get from the initial state (<original>) to the final state (<new version>). This seems the more natural, and by using this convention consistently, one can avoid confusion as to "which direction the diff goes". Bruce Jerrick ...teklabs!ogcvax!bruce Oregon Graduate Center
