Hello Everyone: I have a wonderful suggestion: Now that System 7 is just around the corner and this Newgroup is totally flooded with System 7 stuff why don't we dedicate a New group to System 7 ?? I don't actually know what the procedure is but I have often responded to many "calls" for a new newsgroup and I think that with all of the New and Wonderous features of system 7.0-7.?? many people will want to share and voice their opinions on the subject quite alot. I have had the opertunity to use System 7.0 and find that it is just great. I can't help but get excited everytime I think of it comming out. This all is just a thought and would clear this newsgroup up alot for all those poor souls who don't have the configuration yet to support system 7.0. Maybe we could rename this to Comp.sys.mac.old :-} (just a joke .. No flames please). Any thoughts on the Subject POST or EMAIL me and I will post them. Thanks for any input on the subject. Mario L. Just my opinion, but I don't really think we need another newsgroup. That's what c.s.m.system is for... for now on it will be System 7, System 6, AUX, whatever applies. I don't actually know what It's a nice idea, but I really think that the volume of discussion on pre-7 systems will eventually go the way of the Elephant Birds. Devoting a new newsgroup to sytem 7 would leave this one underutilized. Besides, I am a refuge of a rather nasty "split the group" battle in another newsgroup, and I just don't have the stomach for it. -- scasterg@magnus.ircc.ohio-state.edu Stuart M Castergine "Don't take life too seriously. System 7 is about to become the "current" release. Did anyone call for a newsgroup when 6.0.7 was launched? 7 is a bigger event, so there's more traffic, but this is a start-up phenomenon - hardly worthy of starting a new group. Philip Machanick

I think that this would be monotonous..... After all this is comp.sys.mac.system (note the system), and it is specified for system questions/comment/dead turtles or whatever has to deal with systems...

Good idea. First off, it would be nice if there was a place to look just for System 7-related stuff. Secondly, there will be many people for quite some time who need to run software which won't run under System 7 (or perhaps aren't willing or able to pay for the upgrades to System 7 compatable versions at the moment, or aren't willing to upgrade memory to run apps which just had enough memory before, etc., etc.), and will be continuing to run 6.0.x by choice.
