[comp.sys.mac.system] Freedom Of Press and StyleWriter?

boortz@sics.se (Kent Boortz) (05/09/91)

Some questions about Freedom Of Press Light, FOPL:

	Does FOPL work with StyleWriter?

How slow is it with a StyleWriter?

	Does it work with TrueType?

Does it work with PageMaker 4.0?

	Can I interactively write postscript
to FOPL and get text response back?

	Other problems with it?

Could you give me some comments about this?

Thanks!

It works with any QuickDraw printer, including the stylewriter.

Quite slow. Printing with FOPL is about twice as slow as normally on a Mac II.

It doesn't know about TrueType, but it doesn't cause any problems either.

Unknown.

No, you can't. You can write a postscript program and then run the file
through FOPL to view it on your screen, but you can't view the stack or
debug PS programs.

FOPL emulates a laserwriter pretty well, but you can't use the latest
LaserWriter driver with it.
