Hi, We've just installed the "Golden Master" on a few different machines (II, IIsi, IIfx). According to an Apple SE, it is necessary, after sucessfully installing System 7.0, to boot up to the "Disk Tools" disk and then run Disk First Aid on the new system disk. This will uncover some interesting errors. (Type command-s to open the message window). Disk First Aid reports: "Error 505: Missing file record for file thread (TarID=nnnn,TarBlock=nnn)" I got about 10-12 of these errors while checking the catalog file, then got the message that the disk was OK. Evidently this is what is supposed to happen, and Apple recommends that you perform this first aid. Does anybody know anything more about this process, specifically why it is necessary? Furthermore, when I run disk first aid a second time I get this message: "Error -518: Invalid Index Key (TarID=4,TarBlock=718)" while checking the catalog BTree. This message is followed by another stating that the disk is damaged and can't be repaired! If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd be most grateful.
