[comp.sys.mac.system] Memory Protection

mpretzel@cs.utexas.edu (Benjamin Allums) (05/12/91)

Someone asked why the Mac OS doesn't use memory protection etc. Part of the
problem lies in the fact that although the 68000 series has both a supervisor
and a user mode, the Mac does not reserve supervisor instruction for OS only
use. Current Mac programs run in the supervisor state, always. This is weird
but this is life.
