On the whole, the new Finder keyboard shortcuts are great. You can navigate through the Finder almost the same way as you navigate through Standard File dialogs. Because the 2 methods of navigation are so similar, it's easy to start trying to use them the same way without thinking about it (and this is great too). However, the difference in the way RETURN is treated in the 2 is has caused me to rename things accidentally in the Finder several times. In Standard File, RETURN means OPEN. In Finder, it means select the text and make it editable. I think there is a strong case for making this more consistant. -- Philip Machanick philip@pescadero.stanford.edu
