I've installed System 7.0 on an SE/30 with an external Apple color monitor, using the default installation script. For some weird reason, the trashcan icon never seems to want to go to where it should be (bottom right corner of screen). If I clean up the desktop, it appears about an inch too high and to the left (in fact, nothing on the desktop "cleans up" correctly). If I go from a color to internal monitor configuration, the trash can appears right under the hard disk icon, as if it were a device. Going back to color, the trash can appears near the center of the screen. This is really weird.
