[comp.sys.mac.system] Max number of sharing clients?

philip@pescadero.Stanford.EDU (Philip Machanick) (05/18/91)

In the MacUser article about System 7, the claim is made that
there is a limit of 10 clients sharing files on a given
machine. There are other inaccuracies in the article (e.g.,
the claim that the get info comments are saved across desktop
file rebuilds) and there appears to be nothing about such a
limit in the manual so I'd appreciate definitive information
from someone who _knows_:
o is there such a limit?
- if so, is it hard-coded, or does it depend on factors like
  available RAM?

Answer to my own question. I called the System 7 Upgrade Answerline.
They agreed the information should be in the documentation
but isn't. There is indeed a hardcoded limit of 10 clients
(total 11 users, including the owner).
