We just ran into an "interesting problem." I am running 6.0.5 on a IIci with a Micron RAM Cache card and loads of Cdevs and INITs. After installing system 7 on one office machine, we decided to install the printer drivers on the rest of the machines. All of the machines accepted this except mine. After almost 3 hours of swapping inits and removing the Cache card, we finally solved the problem by rebuilding the desktop. Remember, I am using 6.0.5. Symptoms: After installing the 7.0 printer driver, trying to access the System Folder resulted in a system lockup! Even booting off of a floppy didn't allow any access to the system folder!! I had to re-install old drivers over the new 7.0 to get access to the system folder again. I tried to use fast find to move the 7.0 Laserwriter file to the desktop and this too resulted in a lockup. Trying to add ANYTHING to the system folder caused a lockup. Even just trying to copy the 7.0 laserwriter drive from on Mac to the fileserver and then to my Mac caused a lockup (whether I copied it to the system folder or to the desktop!) We were just wondering if anyone else was having these problems with 6.0.x machines. If so, there seems to be a remedy! *************************************************************************** ** William C.
