[comp.sys.mac.system] Can't paste an ICON!

DN5@psuvm.psu.edu (D. Jay Newman) (05/24/91)

Hi:

Using System 7.0, I pasted an ICON into one volume of our AppleShare server
(I am the administrator). I attempted to do this to the other volume, and
it doesn't work. I am just trying to paste an ICON sized picture and I
can't get the Paste menu item to be non-greyed out. Copy works fine.

I have tried the following things:

1. The normal way (selecting the volume icon, doing a "Get Info...", clicking
on the icon in the top left corner, then selecting paste -- this assumes
that I have a picture in the clipboard, which I did).

2. Copying the invisible file created from one AppleShare volume to the
other. If an ICON had appeared, I would have then changed the icon
family in the new hidden file. Nothing appeared but the standard AppleShare
   volume icon.

3. Trying (1) when I was the only person using that volume.

4. Doing (1) when I made sure that I had FileSharing turned off.

Nothing seems to be able to work. If anybody can help me, please tell me
(preferablly by email, but I do read this group also...).

Eternally gratefull...
